About Me

Hello! I am an associate professor at the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology. Previously, I was a Research Scientist at Motional, and worked on developing L4 autonomous driving systems. I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, where I was a member of the Sanghani Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics and advised by Professor Bert Huang. Before that, I obtained my M.S. from the University of Colorado Boulder, advised by Professor Jordan Boyd-Graber. I received both my B.S. and M.S. from Jilin University, China, under the guidance of Professor Jihong Ouyang.

Research Interests

I am currently focused on bridging the gap between machine learning methods and their practical applications.

On one hand, I aim to improve model capacity, generalizability, and robustness through model architecture changes. I also strive to develop advanced learning and inference strategies to accelerate the model development process, reduce inference latency, and minimize the impact of data noise or incompleteness.

On the other hand, I am interested in applying advanced machine learning methods to tackle real-world industry or scientific challenges, such as agent motion forecasting in autonomous driving and protein structure prediction in biology.
